It’s the mantra of every real estate agent: ‘location, location, location’. This is what you should focus on when buying a house/apartment. It is the main factor in determining the current and future value of your dream real estate.
If you are buying an investment property then location is indeed one of the most important considerations. A good location includes local amenities, access to transportation and nearby schools.
However, when looking for a second (holiday) home then other considerations determine a good location. Rather than being close to a school, you want to be close to services that you will actually use (e.g. golf, tennis, hiking). You will not use the train and public transport as often as you might do at home, and prefer to have good access by car (including your own parking). And even being within 100m of the beach might not be that important as many people prefer superior views which you actually will ‘use’ every day of the year.
Another important location consideration is privacy and tranquillity, something many people overlook when visiting a potential property. If your home is in a noisy neighbourhood or close to a major road then this will always impact your enjoyment. Especially at night a major road, even 100s of meters away, can be very annoying. Even more so if you want to leave your windows open at night to let the cool evening air into your home.
Castillo del Cerrado is the perfect ‘location’ for discerning residents and second homeowners. It offers privileged 360-degree views of the Mediterranean and Mijas Mountains. You will find a supermarket and some bars and restaurants within walking distance, whilst the vibrant centre of Fuengirola is a short 7-minute drive away.
Castillo del Cerrado has its own exterior and interior pool for its residents, is overlooking the Cerrado del Aguila golf course, and is close to a tennis, paddle, fitness and yoga centre. The Beaches of La Cala and Fuengirola are within 3km, and both Malaga and Marbella are a half hour drive away.
Do focus on location when buying real estate. But be a bit more ‘selfish’ when looking for your second home in Spain and make sure that the location offers what is important to you.
